You have probably seen us use the term Disaster Health Services in some of our tornado response materials, but you may not have realized exactly what health services entails.

Health Services is an integral part of American Red Cross disaster services. They consist of licensed, credentialed health workers.

Their role includes:

  • First aid to affected people and relief workers
  • Assessment and evaluation of health care needs in individuals and communities
  • Disaster-specific health promotion and disease prevention education
  • Help affected people find resources to meet health-related financial obligations
